British duo create history at European Championships; Djokovic defeats lucky loser Basic

Britain registered an historic sprint double at the European Championships, winning the gold medal in the men’s and women’s 100 m races at the same edition of the event for the first time.
After Dina Asher-Smith won the women’s race in a time of 10.85 seconds, Zharnel Hughes took gold in the men’s section with a Championship record of 9.95 seconds.
Stokes’ absence weighs on England ahead of second Test
The second Test of the five-match series between England and India will be played at Lords, starting on Thursday.
Ben Stokes played a crucial part in England’s victory in the first Test, but will be missing out as he is in court this week on a criminal charge.
More changes are likely in both sides as the high temperatures in London could push both teams to play two spinners.
Djokovic, Wawrinka progress in contrasting fashions
Novak Djokovic had his opponent changed as Chung Hyeon pulled out with injury, but he had no trouble dispatching Mirza Basic 6-3, 7-6 (7/3) to reach the next round at the Toronto Masters.
Stanislas Wawrinka, meanwhile, dropped the first set against Nick Kyrgios before roaring back to win his game 1-6, 7-5, 7-5.
At Montreal, Victoria Azarenka played out a dominant 6-0, 6-1 victory against Kristina Mladenovic, and Maria Sharapova dispatched Sesil Karatantcheva 6-1, 6-2.
