POONCH, JUNE 27 –
District Collector, Poonch Mohammad Aijaz Asad today convened a meeting of land owners and representatives of PDC to sort out the issues of actual possession and compensation to the land owners of Parnai Hydel Project at Surankote.
During the meeting, the land owners raised the concern regarding amount of compensation to be paid to them for land acquisition. They informed the meeting that the compensation awarded is very less than the market price and demanded that the amount be enhanced keeping in view the escalated cost of the land.
They further informed that there is a lot of confusion with respect to possession of land and that it should be properly demarcated before final award is made.
The DDC directed SDM Mendhar for proper demarcation of the land so that real owners of the land in question can be identified and ordered to submit detailed report within a week time. He assured the land owners that they will be provided compensation as per laws.
The DDC cautioned the concerned departments to complete homework on ground before finalizing land compensation so that the prestigious project is not delayed and pending issues could be resolved at the earliest.
The meeting was attended by Chief Engineer Parnai Project Jankar Nath, SDM Surankote Mohd Rashid Kohli, SDM Mendhar Tanvir Khan, Executive Engineer Pranai project Javed Iqbal, Ramesh Badri (HR Manager).
