Delhi XI lifts North Zone Cricket trophy for Deaf

JAMMU, April 24:
Delhi defeated hosts J&K by 28 runs and lifted the 7th North Zone Cricket tournament for the Deaf played at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here today.
Earlier, in the final, Delhi won the toss and elected to bat first scored 185 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. In reply, J&K tried hard but could not chase the target and bowled out for 157 runs in 19.3 overs. Dheeraj Prasad of Delhi XI was adjudged man of the match and best batsman while best bowler trophy went to Mohammad Shafi. Dheeraj Prasad of Delhi XI was also declared man of the series award for his alround performance.
Member JKCA and retired Judge, Jung Bahadur Singh Jamwal was the chief guest, who gave away the winners and runners-up trophies as also other individual prizes in the presence of Joint Secreatry, J&K State Sports Council, Shiv Kumar Sharma. Former Ranji cricketer, Rajesh Gill, MD KC Sports Club, Arjun Choudhary, Pranav Gupta (DySP) and Surinder Megan, president Delhi Deaf Cricket Association were among others present. Speaking on the occasion, Jung Bahadur Singh lauded the efforts of the J&K Deaf Cricket Association and complimented the team behind the successful conduct of the national level event. He assured all helps from the JKCA to the Association in future as well.
