Congress is taking advantage of Akhilesh Yadav: PM Modi

Kannauj: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Wednesday, claimed that the Congress is playing a double game with the Samajwadi Party in Uttar Pradesh.

Addressing a poll rally in Kannauj, PM Modi said, “Akhilesh doesn’t understand how clever the Congress is…Mulayam ji understands that.”

“Akhilesh wake up – even when you are not willing to listen to Mulayam ji. Congress is aligned with the Bahujan Samaj Party while also taking advantage of you,” he said.

Levelling a serious charge against the Congress and Akhilesh Yadav, the PM said that Akhilesh is sitting in the lap of those who schemed to kill Mulayam Singh Yadav.

“When such big players in corruption come together will anything remain in Uttar Pradesh?” he questioned, adding that BJP is the only hope.

Taking up the issue of distress faced by potato farmers, he said, “Didn’t the bahu of Samajwadi Party promise to set up a potato processing factory here but has it been built? Won’t you ask her about the promise?”

The Prime Minister pointed out that the BJP manifesto promises to bring potato, onion and garlic under the minimum support price scheme.

“We won’t let farmers die,” he said.

He also took potshots at Rahul Gandhi. “A congress leader doesn’t even know whether potato grows in farm or is produced in the factory. What sort of people are talking about farmers?”

“The first responsibility of any government should be the poor and marginalised. They (Samajwadi Party) only talk about poor during polls but have never done anything for them.”

The Prime Minister also pointed out that the Centre has taken an important step to ensure that the poor who suffer from heart diseases get access to healthcare.

“Earlier a normal stent costed Rs 45000 and the special variety came for Rs 1,25,000. We have changed the rules and included stent under drug control authority list. Now a stent will cost only Rs 8000 and the special variety will cost only Rs 30,000,” he said.
